Most 6 cylinder engines will start and run a least momentarily even with a bad head gasket... rough, shaking or even smooth, check the coolant for carbon monoxide an easy chemical test, also check the oil dipstick is the oil whitish or contaminated with coolant... head gaskets get overheated and fail... blocks get over heated and crack same with cylinder heads..
