I have a question hope someone can help

I have a 2000 Chevrolet Venture van I was driving it a it
started to over heating by time I got off the exit to check it
out it cut off and now it well not start back up I have
checked it getting fuel I thought be head gasket but there
no water in oil with that said but is there a sense that well
shut the vehicle off  before it does any damage not sure it
it does but I can't think of what else it could be so if
anyone have any idea please let me know what to check

Could be seized from the heat. Starter clicking, fuel pump priming? Oil level is good and no coolant in there? Cranking? If the heads are not warped and the engine is cranking, are there any check engine light on? Remove the battery cable, wait at least a half hour, reconnect and try again?
