2012 Mini Cooper/ 122K miles /stick shift
Problem: Knocking sound; first thought it was an engine knock.
But:
Knock does not occur when idle/car not in motion.
Knock does not occur when clutch is depressed.
Knock does not change on engine speed or tach speed.
Seems to come from left front.

Drive half the car up onto a PHAT curb , crawl under neath and take a look . Look for a wear mark , grab things and see if they knock .
As the knocking is heard the same at all speeds and isn't heard when the clutch is depressed, I'd suspect that you have a defective hydraulic clutch; either in the master or slave cylinders.
Good tips. Will look for wear marks, but definitely needs a certified Mini mechanic. Thanks guys
Could be a bearing but if it's happening when cornering or going over speed bumps could be the rack and opinion needs replacing.
