Vehicle wont start after trying to jump start another vehicle

I have a 2004 Ford Escape XLT 4WD I was
trying to jump start my KIA Sorrento with it
last sunday the 5th I started the Escape then
hooked the jumper cables up to it the cables
were already hooked up to the KIA . I was
adjusting the cables to get a better
connection when the positive side of the
jumper cables came apart meaning that the
wire just came off of the clamp I turned my
Escape off while I fixed the jumper cables
and after I fixed them I hooked them back up
and started my Escape back up at which
time I noticed that my Escape was starting
to idle rough and the longer it ran the
rougher the idle got So I turned my Escape
off then unhooked the jumper cables I
looked to see if something had came
unplugged or something of that nature and I
did not see or find anything So I tried to start
my Escape back up and it would not start I
cranked it repeatedly and nothing at all
happened it did not even attempt to start at
all So I checked to make sure that it was
getting fuel and fire and it is but it still is not
starting I am puzzled with this problem so
can I get a suggestion or reason why my
Escape will not start

No cause I do not have a volt mete but it cranks over like it always has and like I said. It is getting fuel and spark and thats what has got me baffled With fuel and fire it should at least try to start but it does not
