Question type: Maintenance & Repair

my 2001 jetta started to sputter especially going on any angle hill.
100% felt like the fuel filter. tookit in changed fuel filter and plugs were bad
so i thought i found the problem nut i didnt!
I drove away with same problem!!!! it hesitates and sputters an stalled on a
high hill!
I used sea foam to clean out the gas lines ion hope this was it but with no
avail jetta still hesitates. idle sounds off in neutral.
What else can it be????????

Have it scanned for codes. My Dad had one of those and I always worried about the timing belt jumping a cog or two and wrecking the engine. He drives like a turtle so it never happened. There's a lot of power loss when worn belts jump cogs if that's what happened. So if you have over 100,000 miles the belt replacement might be due.

And another thing. Call the VW dealer with your VIN number. There was a recall and free replacement of the coil pack which makes the ignition spark. That's what happened to Dad's car and it showed a check engine light. Let them know you already replaced the plugs so they don't charge you again. Good Luck.
