The thermostat is leaking water from around where the gasket is located.
Could that be the only problem?

How could anyone possibly know if that is the only problem? FIx it and see!

May as well replace the thermostat while you're at it, just in case. If you don't you'll end up wasting a gasket if you find out that the thermostat is bad too
