2002 audi a6 Quattro 3.0 wont start hear grinding sound
I have a 2002 audi a6 Quattro 3.0 engine
locked up i was in a flood I did try to start
the car twice in the water. ..after that i
flushed the oil new spark plugs and also put
a new starter on how ever it wants to start
but all we hear is grinding with it tring to
start so we tried to turn the engine by the
crank bolt but it wont turn like the whole
engine locked up. Dose ny one know what
else i can do please
The grinding might be a damaged ring gear in the transmission but a locked up engine is bad news. I think the engine is toast. You could try squirting some penetrating oil in the cylinders to dissolve any rust in there and use a bigger wrench to turn the engine over but if you get it running it will probably smoke.
if you want to turn the enging over i would also remove all the spark plugs the compresion itself will make the engine almost impossible to manualy crank.
JUMPED TIMING THESES MOTORS ARE INTERFERENCE MOTORS WHICH MEANS THAT IF YOUR TIMING BELT GETS LOOSE AND JUMPS THE TIMING THE PISTON WILL HIT YOUR INTAKE AND EXHAUST VALVES WHICH WILL LOCK IT UP AND IF YOU FORCE IT YOU WILL PUT A HOLE INN PISTON BEND OR BREAK A VALVE.SO I WOULD PUT A A BREAKER BAR AND SOCKET ON CRANK BOLT TURN OVER BY HAND IF IT STOPS TURNING EASY YOU HAVE TO RE TIME IT WHICH YOU'LL NEED THE TIMING TOOL FOR AUDI IT WILL COST YOU 45 TO 90 DOLLARS AND A COUPLE DAYS TO GET .IF YOU DON T HAVE MUCH MONEY IN CAR FIND ANOTHER VEHICLE BECAUSE THIS CAR WILL START COSTING YOU A LOT OF MONEY
