2004 ford escape shakes when at idle

Asked by Guru9979W Jun 02, 2017 at 08:34 PM about the 2004 Ford Escape XLT FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The check engine light is on. We changed
a coil and 3 spark plugs. Now it shakes on
idle and had a little bit of white smoke
coming out. Im hoping its not the head
gasket.

Run a compression test to see if a cylinder is low. Have you had it scanned for trouble codes? Also why did you change ONLY 3 spark plugs?

Havent done that yet. Yes that how i found out that a coil wasnt working. I have to drive the truck at leadt 50 miles before i can check it again. Those 3 spark plugs where easy to get to.

Water in motor not good at all. You or your wife's been running it to hot or without oil I bet major problems

Im taking it with my boyfriend today to get the code read again. We restarted it and took the old codes off. Hopefully now we can see what is wrong with it.
