Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car has an occasional  burning smell. I was
pressing the brake and it was hard. I took my foot
off the brake and tried again and the brake
functioned as normal.

The burning smell could be coming from just about anywhere, may be a leaky valve cover gasket. The brake thing I would get it in and have it checked out. I'm thinking the brake booster is going bad.
