ford escape CD4E transmission

Asked by lyradhunter Mar 01, 2023 at 08:09 PM about the 2004 Ford Escape XLS FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

what has to be changed to make a 4wd transmission fit in a 2wd ford escape on
a 2005. It looks like there is an adaptor that runs the rear drive shaft that just
bolts on the transmission case. Is there more internally that needs to be
changed?

Get the proper trans or have a transmission shop do it unless you have tools, skill set, and very clean environment. Trust me tried doing this myself and lets just say things went south faster than my ex on dollar drink night
