2012 chevy impala brake pedal goes down a lot before engaging

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm buying this impala but the brake pedal almost goes to the floor before
engaging the brake.  The dealer just put in a new brake cylinder and has
bled the brakes twice.  The pedal still goes down a lot.  They mechanics
are now saying that this is normal for this car. " we drove it four times and
every time when we put on the brake the car stopped fine." Is this really
just the way the brakesw are for the 2012 Chevy Impala LT?

what do wheel bearings have to do with the brake pedal? As far as Air in the ABS system, they already bled the brakes twice. I'm sure they checked the brakes themselves if they spent over $1000 to make some repairs and to replace the master cylinder prior to putting it out for sale. This is a very reputable dealer. Someone else telling them that this is normal. They took it to the chevy dealer for the work on the master cylinder. Maybe that's who's saying its normal. Any other ideas? They are going to take it to a different GM dealer in the morning for another opinion. I haven't taken possession yet and may not if this isn't resolved. My sister is the office manager of the place and so I know they are not crooked.

Been doing brakes along time and in this time run into a problem like what you are having worked on this vehicle all day and could not figure why the brake pedal keep going to low before braking all most beginning to giving up on it raised the front end and checked for a loose wheel bearing and that what it was. The bearing being so loose was causing brake pedal to go to floor because so much play in the bearing causing rotor to move when brakes where applied. Tighten the wheel bearing and brakes went back to working correctly. Not saying this is your problem but it is just a problem that gave me a headache before.
