What can be causing my car to run hot and why do i hear a swishing sound when i turn the car on?

The noise is water moving trying to move thru the system as it heats up. First determine if your water pump is circulating water, make sure your fan are coming on when the car reaches temp, If those items work You should do the following, change the thermostat, flush the system two times with a good flush, change the radiator cap
