IG Main fuses 40A

I have a 2004 Ford escape it was running
fine and then one day it wouldn't click over
no starter engaged nothing so I went and
checked the starter it's running fine I found
that the IG main fuse 40A when I remove
this fuse and put it back in my car runs fine
no problems or anything when I turned it
off and try to restart the car it won't turn
over or anything the only way it will start is
if I rene and put it back in my car runs fine

The fuse # is 40A it's the IG Main
The fuses have a number assigned to them, on the fuse panel cover and owners manual. Is it # 19,20, 21, 23? Those are the 40 amp fuses in the panel under the hood.
It's the fuse located under the hood. It is # 40A it says the fuse is IG Main 40A when I look in the owners book
i will have to look at the cover when I get home. I left it there
19 is the starter relay that may not be resetting, also the ignition switch (electrical on the column opposite ign cylinder) it may be hanging up not letting the car know that its been fully turned off. 20 is the accessory delay relay, if it sticks it will keep things like the radio on. 21 is a main power to other functions in the central junction box(underhood fuse panel). 23 and least likely is the blower motor. The ignition switch is the most common cause of this type of no start condition.
