Hey guys, just purchased a 2011 Ram and getting an error message on dash indicating I cannot remote start me truck. Previous owner said he changed out the little whatchamacallit (lol) at the hood latch. Any suggestions rather than taking it to a mechanic? Thanks so much.

I doubt the hood latch is the problem. Perhaps there is a trouble code that will narrow it down.

Thanks. Yes I know it wouldn't be the hood latch. He changed out that lil computer thingy beside it so ya might be a code thing. The message I get is that the hood is not properly closed, but it is, so something is off. Thanks again

I am not an expert on thingy's ;) If the hood latch switch is out of adjustment it could keep the engine from starting as this would be an important safety issue.

F_O_R is correct. That lock out (off) switch on the hood prevents someone from accidentally remote starting the engine while someone is working on it. If the switch is faulty, you can just close that circuit by crossing the wires as a test until you fix/replace the switch.

You're welcome Pete. Thanks for the points too. And you have a nice looking family. Where I live, most of the people look like they just broke out of prison.
