Question type: Maintenance & Repair

intermittent no crank and no start with key switch, but I jumper small starter solenoid terminal to large starter battery terminal and it will crank and start every time? It has new battery, alternator has been checked, fuses both inside auto and under hood have been cleaned and checked. what is next to be checked? how can the ignition switch be checked?

That sounds like an old pickup I had. I found corrosion in the wiring harness. You might have a bad solenoid, so it might be the whole starter assembly needs to be replaced.
