I have 2012 escape battery keeps going dead will not start at 11.97 volts.

Battery keeps going dead in a day or so. After 11.97 volts  it will not start.

seems like your battery isnt holding charge. to see if its your battery or your alternator you can do 2 things 1st check battery with mulimeter you can use one from a auto part store put it on DC volts your battery should read between 12v and 12.6v. this shows the battery is good (with the car off)!!, if its below that the battery is going out. 2nd if your alternator is going out thats means your battery is doing all the work with your car and it shouldnt be. to check the alternator grab a multimeter and put the leads on your battery(have the car running) if the battery reads between 14.10 and 14.7v the alternator is good and its just the battery if it isnt then the alternator is going out and to be 100% sure take the alternator to a auto store and get it tested.

ok then the battery might be going out did you check the voltage on that?
