Horn honking & lights flashing at random

Asked by Lisallane Jan 03, 2016 at 01:22 PM about the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze 2LT Sedan FWD

Question type: General

When my car is sitting lately it randomly honks mostly in the wee hours of the
morning. The lights flash at the same time.  No indicators on dash.  What's up
and how can I stop it?

My first thought was an issue with security system or problem with bcm? I couldn't find the info I wanted in my database?

bcm/Body control module. Can you check for applicable trouble codes? Some of the national brand auto stores will check codes for free.

I just took my truck to the dealership it is a 21 chevy trail boss for this same issue. They said they could not duplicate the problem. I left the dealership and at my first stop I put it in the park and the horn beeps after a few minutes. Let me be clear, this is not the you left your keys in the truck multiple honk alert. A little later I left and came back and at this time it was dark and while sitting there my blinker starts flashing but it doesn't show it to be flashing on the display. I was looming at my emails a bit later and noticed I had a warning that I had a low tire. This same tire has had a slow leak that I need to get fixed just haven't had the time to do so. The last oil change wI got they added air to that tire an the best I can recall it stopped honking for a while after that which leads me to believe that it is a good possibility all of this is tied to having a low tire. I will put the recommended amount in the tire and update this post if it is indeed the problem.
