Sunroof (I think) leak

Asked by Randall Oct 25, 2017 at 09:04 PM about the 2012 GMC Savana LS 1500 AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Bought a 2012 (24k) GMC AWD Explorer
High Top Conversion Van. Had it for about
a week. Clean car fax one owner. During a
HEAVY downpour we saw water dripping
from the side of the sunroof and also
dripping from one of the ceiling lights. We
can not see an open space on the sunroof.
I do know when it happened (one time) we
had allowed the car to shut the sunroof (by
turning off engine). I do not notice a
difference when the car shuts it or we do it.

The seal between the sunroof and your body is bad. I suppose it is something that may be purchased from GM or your conversion company. If you seek a cheaper alternative get some clear caulk and reseal it to the best of your ability. Also, pull those lights where it leaked or pull the entire headliner if necessary. You will get mold if it does not have oppertunity to dry out.
