Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just bought a 97 JX1 and love it.  Same old: Amp was flooded so no radio.  Also the
compass / thermometer cluster not working and does not light up.  Is there fuse for that?
Any ideas?

If you check through the threads you will find many responses to this and other questions you may have. Rainwater and saltwater are 2 different problems, hope you have the former. I owned a 2000 and know your pain. There are several fuses that protect the radio, info cluster, displays, and amp. There is an underhood panel and another on the end of the dash, drivers side, exposed by opening the drivers door. Here is a link to purchase a manual for your model. http://www.chrysler.com/en/owners/manuals/ The amp can be bypassed as it was an upgrade from the base JX. An aftermarket installer will have diagrams and expertise, or if you are savvy, you can tackle this yourself. I would remove the amp and clean/dry/replace carpet and pad if not already done, after removing source of water intrusion. Check exposed wiring and surfaces for corrosion and correct. A borax solution made from powder and scrubbed in will remove mold, soil and mildew without bleaching carpet and fabric. Vacuum thoroughly when dry.
