How long to let a Wheel bearing go before replacing

Asked by Medford Jan 02, 2019 at 12:58 PM about the 2005 Cadillac SRX V8 AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Starting to hear whining noise on my
2005 SRX Cadillac from rear Wheel
and 2008 Envoy GMC front wheel.
The SRX is also making a bumping
noise sometimes when I start to pull
off. SRX is all wheel drive. How long
can I let these bearing go before
fixing or become dangerous. Since
can not fix myself and must pay high
dollar labor charges.
Thanks for advice on this expensive
repair.

$300-350 is fair for the Envoy hub bearing change might go another 50 miles or 1000?. also the other side typical fails within another six months. The SRX rear bearing change out is about $300-400 these are low cost repairs! for vehicles over 10 years old. Finally any real tech will confirm its a bearing issue and not a half shaft before doing the work.
