I can't get brakes working please help!!!

Asked by GuruS4VLB May 07, 2019 at 11:17 PM about the 2011 RAM 1500 Laramie Crew Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Okay, so am a pretty familar with doing brakes. My
bf decided to be macho and wanted to do this
completely solo. I bought him heavy duty brakes
and rotors to replace what was on truck. He
claimed both calipers seized up. Bought new ones.
Broke a hydralic line one side due to rust. Week
goes by with shitty brakes and other side busted.
Replace it. Then he claimed booster was bad.
Replaced. Then master cylinders. Now he has gave
up entirely and left. So everything is new. Brake
lines happen to be my speciality. I carefully
examined then no leaks. Resovior hold fluid. They
have been bleed 100 times. Fartheest to closest.
How they work is no brake at all, drop to gound.
The suck air and second pump down on peddle it
grips. Is more bleeding need to continue or is
something else wrong????

Btw a brake booster with a torn diaphram ismt going to make ur pedal go to the floor... itll just be really hard to use the brakes, ull have to really put ur leg into it get the vehicle to stop but ull still get a stiff pedal

It does sound like there could still be air in the master, if all 4 wheels were bled with a plastic tube in a jar of fluid until no more bubbles came out, the only other issue could be that the master still has air in it. you normally bleed a new master first, before installing. you do this by adding output lines that go back into the reservoir (you can find these on auto parts sites) and keep pumping until no more bubbles. then reattach the lines, and bleed again.

I am never letting him touch my cars again. No stiff pedal at all. Not stopping at all and easily goes to the floor. Of course he didn't bleed the master. He thinks you see something. Rip it off. Strip every bolt, and break all nuts. And reassemble. He destroy everything. He never does any mechanic job correctly. The dumbass did an oil change with no pan..... Nightmare. Anywho. I manaually bleed the brakes with him. I will be doing bottle trick now that I am solo. I have never ever had to change a master so I bet that's where he messed up. Will investigate tmw and update.

Since master wasn't bled and air is still in lines could the new master be ruined? YouTube mechanic time for me... I have to know everything before I start a project.
