2006 grand cherokee limited engine light

While on a recent trip, the engine light came on. I tried a new gascap.No help.What can cause this problem? Any ideas? Can I keep driving it?

Go to your nearest part,s store,autozone,advance,they will run the obd reader on it for free,it will let you know whats going on.

my father-in--law's car warning went from gas filler door open (which it was not); to check engine light on Saturday. been running with the door warning for a couple of weeks. His son repaced the sensor that set off the door open light

that one was easy, you need to find what sensor set off your light. test what ever sensor you are going to replace before just buying a new one,might be more than just a bad sensor, I 've never heard of Auto Zone until I read their name mentioned on this site; they also apparently must test the sensor before just selling you a new one.
