My 2004 Volkswagen Passat shutters when I put it into reverse.  Is there an easy way to fix this problem

what kind of transmition?? if manual only new clutch

it is an automatic. when you put it into reverse it hesitates and then it shutters into reverse.

first have your transmission oil checked
