2010 Chevy Impala Dome Light

i want to be able to turn my dome light off
whenever i open my doors. i have a dimmer and a
knob for the headlights to the left of my steering
wheel but nothing turns it off. i’ve tried holding the
knob for a few seconds and turning the dimmer on
and off.
