2004 Sebring LX whistles. Loud noise both at idle and under load.

Asked by texasbluegrassfan Apr 20, 2015 at 06:38 PM about the 2004 Chrysler Sebring LX Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Timing belt and water pump have been replaced, with no improvement in whistling noise.
Mechanic says they suspected A/C compressor and/or alternator, but tested both and they
were not faulty.

Maybe a pin hole in the air intake. Or it is the drive belt too tight on the alternator or the air con compressor. I had a high pitch wine once due to this on a new alternator, but it eventually went away and all runs smooth.
