Rattling sound- Chrysler Sebring 2008

Asked by Larrisa Jun 20, 2018 at 09:03 PM about the 2008 Chrysler Sebring Touring Convertible FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a Chrysler 2008 Convertible Sebring Touring (2.7 V6 Engine). I
recently got my car to start up again (after getting an oil change and a new
battery), but I still feel unsafe to drive it. It starts and runs perfectly, but after
a few minutes, there is a rattling sound coming from the engine. The rattling
is coming from the top left of the engine. I'm not sure what it is called or
what's located in that area, but it's blocked off by a black cover. Would
anyone have any clue on what the problem will be and how to fix it?

It is very common for the timing chains to make noise when there is damage to a guide or may be other parts related to the chain , you need to have it check out by a tech

The same exact thing happened to me. 08 Chrysler Sebring Touring 2.7. Just got a brand new battery, had an oil change, 2 days later- its knocking underneath the motor on the left side. Did you ever figure out what was wrong with your Sebring??

I've have a couple of Sebrings and I have had problems with hydraulic tensioners. This could be your problem.I'm not sure what your picture is showing me it looks like a turbo. If it is I would have that checked out.By the way ,V6-2.5ltr motors have timing belts not timing chains.Sorry my mistake, you have a 2.7ltr,I don't know if it is a timing belt or timing chain.

I have the same problem intermittently on a 2008 Chrysler Sebring Convertible. I bought the car used so this has been going on for over 4 yrs and I still can't figure out what it is.
