Do the 2004 model Odyssey's have transmission or engine problems at the higher mileage

Asked by NanabananaB Sep 19, 2013 at 12:08 AM about the 2004 Honda Odyssey EX-L FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

i am thinking about purchasing a used 2004 EX-L Honda Odyssey with 122,000 miles, I
know the owner, very honest, has had all scheduled service done by dealer, gave honest
statement regarding deficulites...such as radio dial fade/balance knob fell off, dash light
behind clock out, so can not be seen at night, autosliding doors are getting finicky, front
wipers are feeling sluggish, needs new tires....my main question is about transmission,
they have not had a problem, but I heard that early odysseys had transmission
problems....do you think that is a big risk with this model year with this many miles?

I have a 2004 LX and haven't had any transmission problems. Mine has 133,000 miles and is doing fine. I drive around 300 to 600 miles a week now. I had the brakes done last year and I have kept up regular maintenance. Make sure the airbag recalls have been done cause they were Takita. I had to go 3 times for that but that wasn't the fault of the car. The Odyssey is one of the safest vans to drive.
