Are camshafts left/right specific on Ford 4.0L V6 SOHC?

Asked by desertrat_1 Mar 15, 2018 at 12:14 AM about the 2005 Ford Mustang Coupe RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My son had his heads rebuilt and now the engine is so far out of time that it
won't run and has no compression. Are the camshafts left/right or universal?
How can I tell which is right and which is left?

The Ford part numbers are different so the cams are not the same. I do not know what the differences are or if they will even fit on the wrong side. www.tascaparts.com for the part numbers.
