I have a 2000 ford explorer and have just put in 2 alternators and 2 used batteries and it still will hold a charge please help

2 alternators from auto zone and 2 used batteries still will not hold a charge all my gauges seem to go crazy before
they fall and do nothing at all.  4 wd lights were flashing as well before the alternator  please help....

Yes, the 2nd battery was, which is the one that is in it now and the alternator failed. So I returned the alternator they checked it before I left. The one thing that is different this time with the 2nd battery and alternator is it won't stay charged at all, I put the battery charger on and it starts and soon as I take them off and shut the car off it battery is dead again... .the battery gauge will not move from L...
