09 5.3 ly5 motor stage 2 cam I need to reprogram
my pcm. I was told to just erase it and it will reset
on its own and I don't have to take it to a dyno tune
is that true?

I think you will need a custom tune to get the most out of your new cam. Find a top rated shop with a rear wheel dyno which is the only way to make your truck run correctly. Not cheap!
