Spring Valve replacement cost for Volkswagen CC 2012

Asked by skaach Oct 27, 2017 at 05:53 PM about the 2012 Volkswagen CC 2.0T Lux Limited FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi everyone,

My car was in a good shape and suddenly the car started shaking heavily so I
drove to VW to see what's going on. They told me it's a carbon build up and
that would cost me $530. After that was done, they called me and told me that
after they cleaned the carbon buildup, they figured out that the spring valve
was broken and needs to be replaced for the car to be fixed and that would
cost another $850 which bring the total $1300. now what would you do if you
were in my shoes?

best regards

I would hope that price is for a full rebuild of the head and not just one valve spring.

should it really cost $1300 for labor!! (the valve cost $55). I just paid them $1100 three months ago to replace the tensioner of the engine. I am really having doubts about their pricing and work. I brought my car to be fixed and they told me it would need carbon cleanup to be fixed ($520) and I only agreed to that through the phone and that didn't fix it so I am thinking of taking my car somewhere else without paying for the "carbon cleanup" which did not fix anything. Please let me know if that's a viable option for me because if I pay this it would mean $2500 in under 3 months which makes me doubt these people.

A viable option would be to have an independent shop do the work.
