Thank you for responding, however, it fluctuates even when there is plenty of gas in the car, not just when low.
When you drive the computer continually adjusts the miles to empty as your driving changes. If you are going up hill the computer will reduce the miles to empty down and it will show more miles to empty when you go down hill.
I have no doubt that Ford allows a reserve of a couple of gallons so that idiots don't run out of gas.
The " miles to go before needing gas" is not accurate. It fluctuates and has even showed " empty " when I had about $10.00 worth of gas still in the car.
