'12 ford focus coolant cap wont unscrew? Help Please!!

Tom, Thanks for replying to my question. I have tried pushing down while turning the cap, that didn't work. Do you know if that cap has some type of internal spring that locks it into place?

There is a little piece of plastic at the back of the coolant cap (on the 2014 Fiesta) that stops it from unscrewing. Not sure exactly why but it stops the cap from turning.
