I had a mechanical key made for my Chrysler 200. It will unlock the door and start the car but the car only remains running for about 3 seconds. Can I reprogram something so this key will work?

No, what you have is a "valet" key. You need a proper "master" transponder key encoded to the car. Can be done at a qualified locksmith but your best bet is the dealership.
