Cylinder 4 misfire

Asked by bstrunk24 Aug 03, 2018 at 03:55 PM about the 2011 Ford F-150 XLT SuperCab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just bought a 2011 F150 5.0 v8 and it has a check
engine light on for misifiring engine in cylinder 4.
The code said bad ignition coil so I replaced all
ignition coils and spark plugs and was still getting
the misfire so I switched the plug and coil with
different ones from a cylinder that wasn’t misfiring
and it didn’t change anything. Anyone have any
idea what to try next or anyone have any similar
issues and found out the problem?

Could be the code will remain until erased via a code reader or until the engine goes through any number of driving cycles. Could also be a bad electrical connection at the coil.
