2011 pk ford ranger XLT 3L Deisel

Asked by Fordmaate Dec 25, 2016 at 11:37 PM about the 2011 Ford Ranger XLT SuperCab 4-Door 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hey guys, does anyone know why my ranger
sounds louder after overheating? Fixed the
overheating part.. but the engine doesnt sound the
same as before just sounds dry n louder.. there is
no oil leaks around the engine, oil level is full.
Could i have caused further damage in the engine
because of the overheat?? I was in the middle of
nowhere n had no choice but to keep driving until
the engine shut down because i busted the radiator
hitting a wallaby. I replaced radiator, thermostat,
engine oil and filter. Everythings fine just the
engine sounds different.

It is likely you gave some galled cylinders, scored pistons or bearing damage at the crankshaft. It may run for awhile or it may soon come apart, hard to say.
