Blower Motor

Asked by NEM2647 Feb 01, 2020 at 03:41 PM about the 1998 Cadillac DeVille d'Elegance Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Have a 1998 Cadillac Deville De'Elegance.   Blower motor quit working.  Repair forums claim (at the blower Plug) Red is 12 volt, black is ground, and middle wire uses variable voltage to control blower speed.   i have both the 12v and the ground but nothing on the middle leg.  Some forums claim there is a control module that controls the middle leg voltage.   Problem is I cannot find the control module ANYWHERE, does anyone know the location of this control module.

Have you removed the glove box and looked behind it? Rockauto.com shows the control module. It has to be near the blower motor. Follow the wires back from the blower motor to find the control module. Look at the picture of the control module on Rockauto.com and you'll see what I mean. Hope that helps! Jim

Much thanks for answering but it's not behind the glove box. Have checked picture on several parts stores. There is nothing that looks like a resistor or a controller anywhere. Been working on cars for a very long time and this ranks as one of the most baffling things ever. I can't trace the wires back from the blower motor because they go into huge harness under the brake booster.
