What model year parts should I put in my replacement 2006 5.7 Hemi engine?

Question type: General

I have a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab with a 5.7 hemi. I had originally
planned to rebuild my Hemi but found out that it would need more repairs
than I had expected. I then went ahead to buy a very cheap 5.7 hemi v8 from
a 2006 dodge ram 1500 so that I could rebuild it. It seems to be ok while I
have been dismantling it.  I wonder if the engines are the same exact as they
both are equipped with MDS. During the rebuild, should I buy rebuild kit
parts under model year 06 or 08? I'd really appreciate it as I could save a
couple bucks as I'd want to keep this rebuild a little budget friendly.

I would buy from a source that uses your VIN if possible. I would use the original engine if possible.
