Shavings in the value covers?

Asked by Kristopher Mar 06, 2017 at 06:11 PM about the 1999 Cadillac Seville STS FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 99 Cadillac Seville STS. Recently did
the headgaskets. And replaced a couple
values. Put everything back together and I
buddy of mine thought that it wasn't getting
enough oil. So we tired to mess with itfor a
while gave us some loud screeching noise
so I shut her down . Take the back value
cover off and I find a real fine powder sliver
on the covers.. can't even feel it when I rub it
on my fingers.any ideas

If the metal shavings are new then you have a serious mechanical problem. Super fine bits like you describe might just be from normal engine wear but the loud screeching noise indicates a major problem.
