Heat is acting up

Asked by hux1 Dec 06, 2015 at 05:02 PM about the 2011 Cadillac DTS Luxury FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The heater and defroster will run me out of the car if I'm driving or can get the RPMs up over 1500 but as soon as I come to a stop everything starts blowing cold. What needs replacing?

Check your coolant levels, heater blowing cold is a sign of low coolant. Revving the engine might get some coolant to flow to heater but drops when at idle.

If coolent level is good try flushing system and also clean fins on radiator or A.C condenser if it sets in front of radiator. If clogged with dirt and bugs could be stopping air flow.
