My car ran out of gas and I put one gallon in the car and it still will not start what should I do

Listen for the pump to hum when you turn the key on, the pump is probably bad from running it dry.

It might take more than one gallon to get the pump to prime. Drop in a few more gallons and see if you can hear the pump run.

The system should still be full of residual fuel and the pump should be able to prime it by the second crank. At least listen for the pump to hum before adding fuel.
