Question type: Maintenance & Repair

a few weeks ago my antitheft/cluster fuse had blown on my 2011 chevy
malibu. wouldn't start until i replaced fuse. Now my car won't start again..
hooked a test light on the negative terminal and touch the negative on the
battery to test for a short and sure enough it lit up. Under my center counsel
where you would rest your arm i had a ground melt alot of my harness.
replaced ground and wires that melted. can't find any more wires that are
exposed but car is still claiming short and will not start or crank

The testing method you are using is not accurate for a modern vehicle that's equipped with computers that are constantly drawing power from the battery. Even when the ignition is off. You need a multimeter and the correct "parasitic draw" specs for your vehicle. This information is in the factory shop manual or perhaps your local Chevrolet Dealer's service department will have the information for you. Hope that helps! Jim
