The air conditioning keeps turning on whenever I start the car. How do I keep this from happening?

Whenever I start the car, the air conditioning comes on.  I then turn off the air manually (by turning the AUTO knob to the left).  How do I keep the air conditioning OFF?

This is a question for your dealer, as this vehicle is still under warranty and may have a problem which BMW has a TSB for.
