Question type: Shopping & Pricing

Looking at a 2002 BMW 530i  with manual transmission.  79k on it for 10.500

I appreciate the prompt reply. I doubt the dealer will budge much. I compared other models in the country and this seems to be under book. Should I arrange a private inspection by another mechanic? Or is that simply not allowed and you have to take the chance? Carfax is excellent. BTW, what are some of the weird sounds? Should I look at hoses? Plastic?

I guess I'm also worried that car is at perfect mileage to have major problem. Is there a constant with fixes that is historically coming up with these cars? I have heard that they are a fantastic car and great model, but still have concerns.

If it's a BMW dealer, ask them to pull the service history. That won't neccessarily tell you everything but it will show you any work performed by a BMW dealer, any dealer, from new. Regardless of that outcome, if they won't allow 3rd party inspection- walk away.
