i need to top off my oil on a 95 525i what weight should i use until i get it changed

You should be fine with 5W30 although there should be a recommendation on the oil cap as to what grade is factory recommended.

Make sure it's sythetic. That year of BMW specifies that.

Synthetic MAYbe used. I used Mobil 1 and it made my 525i leak. It best to go with regular not Synthetic
