Engine 'turns-over', but, takes a long time in the mornings to crank. It does this repeatedly. But, once it cranks it's ok.What's the cause and what can I do?

Hey sorry to hear you're having problems. The first thing I will try to tell you is to run a bottle of Lucas total fuel system cleaner. If that doesn't solve the problem you probably need a complete tune up.

I would check your fuel pressure after letting it sit over night. There is a little check valve in the fuel pump and fuel filter that doesn't allow fuel to bleed back to the tank. If it is bleeding back you will have a long crank time while the pump is trying to build up fuel pressure again. Once the pressure is back it will wont do it again until it sits for a long time. Hope this helps.

The next thing to check is the fuel lines themselves. If there is rubber involved, you could have the slightest leak in your line that closes up after the engine gets warm. This would also cause low pressure in the fuel system, like Robert mentioned. I had it happen on a couple of my old 3 series. Check for the smell of raw fuel before starting the vehicle first thing in the morning along with a little puddle under the driver's side of the vehicle. You have to look closely as it will usually evaporate.
