Is the oil on the ground or is it just showing low on the dip stick?

the oil is sitting on the bottom of the plastic cover not on the ground. This model car doesnt have a Dip stick its a sensor.

I have a feeling its option number 1 on this video clip as it tells me the direction of oil leak (Cover gas Kit) the oil leak is very slow and spreads out. link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymcxmBg911s

a broken oil filter housing gasket is common on BMW's. Check it out. I just replaced mine coz I had the same problem. It's a 'lil bit hard to replace if you're not mechanically inclined but it can be done.

I have a 1996 Bmw 318i that my girlfriend just recently gave me and it been setting for about a year due to a oil leak and over heating. The oil leak is pretty bad and a quart can run out in approx 30 to 40 min. What could the problem be and is it worth fixing or just replacing the engine? 1 Answer

Overall the body is in excellent shape and i would like to get this going for my daily driver.

I have a 2005 Bmw 330i zhp. I was driving out of a gas station when it suddenly started making engine noise, then the oil light came on, then the check engine light. I drove it about 2 miles home where i parked it. I scanned it and now reads p0012. I changed out the Vanos sensor $200 later and it did not fix. I have checked the oil filter and it looks okay. I run 93 octane and use castrol fully synthetic with perfect changed invtervals. I reset the code and the check engine light went away but the oil light is alluminated from the start and its RED. The engine makes a ticking/knocking noise as if it has something inside it rattling. Just got the car back a few weeks ago from the transmission shop $2500 LATER and now its doing this. I dont know what it could be and i cant just continue to throw money into it. Can anyone please tell me what this could be? this is really hard on me as its my only car.. 5 Answers

I recently purchased a 1997 BMW & have been stranded on roadside EVERYDAY due to it Overheating... Mechanic has done a lot of work but it STILL OVERHEATS ... No matter what!!!
