Cooling system

Asked by Snow29 Dec 26, 2018 at 08:33 PM about the 2005 BMW 3 Series 330xi Sedan AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just replaced coolant hoses
because my 2005 bmw 300xi
overheated and blew the botom
hose. Ince I put it back together
it only took about 2 cups of
coolant so I put the cap back on
and drove about 1 mile when my
car overheated again very
quickly  do you have any
suggestions as to what the
problem may be?

At this point your engine may be toast. Try filling it up with coolant and then purge air out of the system. The net and youtube have tutorials.

Once you top off the radiator you park the car facing up hill and idle it with the cap off. Top off as needed and keep an eye on the temperature gauge.
