Timing chains replacement periods

At what mielage is it recommended that I change
the timing  chain on a 2000 bmw 328i? It has
300,000 miles on it and I'm sure the timing chain
has never been changed.

Does the chain rattle? If so and you think the car is worth it you could install a new chain, guides and tensioner.
