Misfire

Asked by DenaLynn Sep 10, 2019 at 01:24 PM about the 2006 Cadillac CTS 3.6L RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The code reader said Number 2 is misfiring, so I replaced the spark plugs
and noticed that the spark plugs had oil on them, so after cleaning
everything up, and tried to put oil foulers on them but they wouldnt fit on this
kind of system, I also had a bad coil pack on number 5 so I replaced this,
now my car is running worse than it was.  It feels like I am not hitting on all
cylinders, Car is rough ideling and with a/c running doesnt sound like it will
make it very far

So what says your code reader now after your repairs? Get a spark plug cable tester and stick it on each cable see if you're getting a spark. Check all connections for good contacts. Since it is worse, after your repairs, it is likely to be your repairs that are at fault. Eg are your plugs tight.

Lots of times u will change coils and plugs and still have the misfire so in that case its your injector u can get sll 6 on ebay 35$ oem. Just did mine super easy. Did plugs coils injectors and plentium intake gaskets misfire dint go away untill i did the injectors witch i did last. Cyl 5 was not firing at all due to blocked or bad injector.
